Privacy Policy

Aprobado ("the App") is operated by Cesar Gomez ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Aprobado.

1. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

• Name
• Email address (and its verification status)
• Password (stored only as a secure cryptographic hash — we never store your password in plain text)
• Profile photo (optional; stored on our servers only if you choose to add one, and deletable in-app at any time)

This information is used to create and manage your user account.

b) Usage and Learning Data

We collect data related to your use of the app, including:

• Practice sessions and mock exams (simulacros)
• User answers
• Scores and progress
• Your exam preparation settings (UNAM área, exam date, and target career, if you choose to set them)
• Usage statistics
• Activity history

This data is used to provide the core educational functionality of the app — your progress, recommendations, streaks, and score estimates.

c) Product Analytics (first-party)

We record a small set of in-app events tied to your account — such as opening the app, completing a practice session, viewing the subscription screen, or completing a purchase — to understand how Aprobado is used and improve it. This analytics data is stored on our own servers; it is not shared with or processed by any advertising or third-party analytics platform.

d) Technical Data

We collect limited technical information to keep the app working reliably:

• Error and crash reports, processed through Sentry (see Data Sharing below). These reports describe what went wrong technically and may include an internal account identifier; they never include your password or payment details.

2. Authentication

Aprobado uses its own email and password authentication. We do not use third-party sign-in providers (such as Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In).

We send transactional emails — password resets and email-address verification — through Resend, a transactional email service. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for delivering those emails.

3. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Aprobado offers auto-renewable subscriptions through Apple In-App Purchases.

Payment information is processed by Apple. We do not store or have access to your payment details.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the app
• Maintain your account and progress
• Enable subscription features
• Understand how the app is used, to improve it (first-party analytics)
• Improve app reliability and performance (error and crash monitoring)

We do not sell or rent your personal data.

5. Data Sharing

We may share limited data only with the following service providers:

• Apple (in-app purchases and subscriptions)
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) for backend and database hosting
• Resend (transactional email: password resets and email verification)
• Sentry (error and crash monitoring; receives technical error reports as described in section 1d)

No data is shared for advertising purposes, and our product analytics never leave our own servers.

6. Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account at any time from within the app by navigating to Profile > Delete Account.

Deletion Process

When you request account deletion:

• Your account enters a 30-day grace period
• During this period, your data is preserved but your account is deactivated
• All active sessions are immediately logged out
• You will not be able to use the app during this period

Restoring Your Account

If you change your mind within the 30-day grace period:

• Simply log in again with your email and password
• Your account and all data will be automatically restored
• You can continue using the app as before

Permanent Deletion

After the 30-day grace period:

• All associated personal data is permanently deleted
• This includes: account information, practice history, scores, progress, and any subscription records
• This action cannot be undone
• No data is retained after permanent deletion

Active Subscriptions

If you have an active subscription when you delete your account:

• Your subscription will continue until the end of the current billing period
• You must cancel your subscription separately through your Apple ID settings to stop future charges
• Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your Apple subscription

7. Children's Privacy

Aprobado is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date.
